After 20 years, we returned to Slovakia for a vacation, this time with young children, and to be honest, we had some reservations. In the past, we started choosing destinations farther west for vacations and ski trips because we felt that prices had gone up, but the quality of services, the attitude in hospitality, and the overall experience did not always keep up.
At Demänová Resort, there was a small unpleasant issue at the beginning, which for a moment brought back that old feeling. But what happened afterward completely changed our impression. The problem was handled very correctly, quickly, and with a truly guest-focused attitude. The management’s approach was exemplary. This is exactly how a situation should be handled when something does not start off the way it should for a guest.
Overall, the resort was a very pleasant surprise. We are having a great time, the kids are enjoying it too, the surroundings are beautiful, the services are solid, and most importantly, it finally feels like the quality has caught up not only in terms of pricing, but also in service, attitude, and guest experience with what we are used to in Western Europe.
I would also especially highlight the food: it is very good, and both the selection and the quality are absolutely fine. For us, this is an especially important factor on a family vacation, and we were not disappointed in this regard either.
I am very happy to say that after 20 years, visiting Slovakia again has been a very positive experience. Demänová Resort did a lot to change our previous impression, and made us feel that this is a place worth coming back to. We are happy to recommend it, and we would gladly return ourselves.
